The Biennium In-Service Training curriculum will cover:

Safe Pursuit Awareness Domestic Abuse Incident Training Hate Crime Investigation Firearms Day & Night Training Child Abuse Incident Training
Missing persons & Amber Alert Training Standardized Field Sobriety Training Refresher Ensuring Child Safety Upon Parental Arrest Interactions with Persons with Mental Impairment Legal Update
Ethics Communication Skills   Critical Incident Management  Legal Liability, 42 USC 1983

The Biennium in-service Training curriculum will provide students with the training required pursuant to title 10.29.7.8 NMAC to maintain their police officer certification.  In addition to those topics mandated by statue and administrative code, the student will also participate in: Legal liability training to educate officers on what is ta 1983 action, actions that may trigger a Civil Rights violation and steps that they and their departments can take to mitigate these actions.  This block of instruction utilizes recent, local, and national cases involving excessive force, sexual assault, and false arrest to generate discussion on this topic.  Practical firearms exercises involving shooting on the move, shooting from barricade/vehicle positions (standing, kneeling, and prone, weak and strong side), malfunction clearances, reloading (tactical and speed), engaging multiple adversaries, decisional shooting, one handed (strong and weak side) malfunction clearances and reloading, weapons retention/disengagement shooting, and shooting with a flashlight techniques.

Practical exercises utilizing role players to develop effective confrontation de-escalation skills when dealing with persons with mental impairments.
